Packing for a family road trip is a puzzle. Suitcases, coolers, strollers and sports bags all need a spot, and the car has to fit everyone comfortably too. The new 2027 Polestar 4 SUV is built with that puzzle in mind.
Polestar’s newest model is set to arrive in Canada in early 2027. It will offer 1,665 L of luggage space with the rear seats folded, plus 1,680 L of total storage when you count the front and rear compartments. Here is a closer look at what those numbers mean for your next long drive.
A Reshaped Rear Built for Cargo
The Polestar 4 SUV starts with the same front end and driving feel as the Polestar 4 coupe. The big change is at the back. The SUV gets a straighter roofline and a more upright tailgate, and that shape opens up a lot more room for luggage.
The cargo area will hold 530 L up to the seatbacks and 655 L when measured to the inner roof. Fold the 60/40 split rear seatbacks and the space grows to 1,665 L. That is a lot of room for suitcases, coolers and the bulky gear a family trip brings.
- Rear cargo to seatbacks: 530 L
- Rear cargo to the roof: 655 L
- Rear seats folded: 1,665 L
- Total storage, front and rear: 1,680 L
More Room for Passengers in the Back

Space for people matters as much as space for bags. The upright rear end of the Polestar 4 SUV will give second-row passengers an extra 2.5 cm of headroom compared with the Polestar 4 coupe. Taller teens and adults will notice the difference on long highway stretches.
A new, larger panoramic glass roof will come standard and stretch all the way back to the tailgate. It will block 99.5% of UV rays and fill the cabin with natural light. An electrochromic glass roof will be offered as an option, letting you tint all or part of the roof from the centre display.
The SUV will also add a conventional rear window and rear-view mirror as standard. When the cargo area is packed to the roof, drivers can choose the optional digital rear-view mirror for a clear view behind the car.
Roof Rails for Extra Gear
Some trips need more than what fits inside. Full-length roof rails will come on the Polestar 4 SUV, with a dynamic roof load capacity of 100 kg. That gives you room to add a cargo box for camping gear, or a rack for skis and bikes.
Moving bulky items like coolers and sleeping bags to the roof frees up interior space for snacks, books and the things your family wants close at hand.
Range and Charging for Long Drives
A road trip car needs to cover distance with ease. The Polestar 4 SUV will use a 100 kWh battery on every version, with DC fast charging at up to 200 kW and AC charging at up to 11 kW in Canada.
Two powertrains will be offered. The Rear motor makes 272 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, with up to 630 km of range on the WLTP cycle. The Dual motor makes 544 hp and 506 lb-ft, with all-wheel drive, a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and up to 600 km of WLTP range.
Power and Comfort at the Campsite
Polestar has planned two features for families who like the outdoors. Both are set to arrive on all Polestar 4 vehicles through a future software update.
Vehicle-to-Load lets the car’s battery power outside devices, such as camping gear, power tools and electronics. It will supply up to 3.3 kW through a certified adapter sold separately by Polestar.
Camping mode turns the parked SUV into a climate-controlled space. It gives access to entertainment, ambient lighting and vehicle controls from both the front and rear displays, supported by V2L power, USB-C ports and the 12 V outlet. On a rainy evening at the campground, the kids can watch a movie in a warm cabin.
